right, as far as everything in libc knows its just unix syscalls.  the
only time anyone would know is by looking at open.c and seeing it
doing more then just syscall(sys_open);

ill tell them get a better compiler, if it is indeed a broken
compiler.  i won't kludge to accomidate brokeness.
