Most likely to keep cost down (for a common home/desktop configuration at
least). Few "Average Joes" need more than 2 internal drives these days.

The new serial SCSI standard should fill the gaps for people who find
current SATA design to be inadequate. It'll empty the wallets of said
people too. :-)
