[NEWS] prom-libc filesystem support partially complete

Hi,

Thanks to Arcady Goldmints-Orlov the filesystem support now
approximately 85% complete:

* its now possible to compile a test program which statically links to
prom-libc, and only prom-libc and runs within powerpc GNU/Linux
userspace, this test program is capable of opening an ext2fs image,
and reading files from within it.

* its currently very verbose in debugging output, and the error
handling is broken, also the build system is not properly updated yet.

* it only builds with recent gcc (3.3), but this should be fix-able to
work on 2.95-*

* some reorganization is required to properly merge it into the source
tree.

This code is based on the early prototypes by Kim Saunders.

"simonrvn" from #debianppc managed to build it and invoke the test
which appears to mostly work, but as per above its still rough. you
can see his results at http://simonraven.nuit.ca/src/prom-libc/

I won't have time to do much in the way of cleanup and integration
this week, but others are certainly free to start hacking on it and
posting patches here. this would be much appreciated!

my totally random and mostly baseless percentage figure comes from:

5% - cleanup code, fix build system.
10% - write more filesystem drivers beyond just ext2.
