I am fairly new to Linux so if you need more info from me let me know. I am trying to install Gentoo on an Apple Powerbook 15 inch 1.25 Ghz. For the past week I have reinstalled (and reinstalled) Gentoo following their installation instructions for ppc. Yabootconfig will ask to install on boot partition. Then It asks for a kernel to locate. the kernel is then given and the message "Could not determine necessary information, aborting..." Afterwards, it asks if I'm using yabootconfig correctly with --chroot. Here are the data from /etc/fstab:
/dev/hda2 /boot /ext2 noauto,notime 1 2
/dev/hda4 / /xfs noatime 0 1
/dev/hda3 none /swap sw 0 0
/dev/cdroms/cdrom0 /mnt/cdrom iso9600 noauto,user
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /dev/shm tmpfs defaults 0 0
I've thought about changing the entry for cdrom, but I suspect that i would get an error specific to that entry. This is my second attempt at installing linux on this machine (miserable experience with Debian, don't ask!). I'm at my wits end, so any help you would give would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Pete
