Unable to boot on linux
Hi all,
I am using a recent iBook, bought a week ago:
* G4 1.2 GHz
* 30G HD
* 256 Mb RAM
I re-installed MacOSX at the end of the HD (10G)
because I intended to install Gentoo Linux and enable
dual-boot.
I partitionned the remaining space for linux,
including the bootstrap partition: /dev/hda2.
/dev/hda1 is for the partition table, root is on
/dev/hda3 (no /boot partition). I installed the system
following the instructions of the Gentoo install
manual, including yaboot. I edited the yaboot.conf
file to set the linux image to boot on /dev/hda3, with
the path to my kernel (/boot/kernel-2.6.1).
Then I tryed to reboot my computer. I have the yaboot
boot line: 'l' for linux, 'x' for MacOSX, 'c' for
CDROM and 'o' for openfirmware.
So I press 'l' and I have the second boot stage; I
press enter and expected my kernel to boot. However, I
am back to the OpenFirmware...
