YABOOT on IBM 7025-F80

I recently acquired an F80 and managed to get Gentoo installed but I 
have hit a huge snag in installing yaboot.

I may also have made a fatal error in that my PreP partition is on a 
different disk from my root partition.  Will that cause a failure?

also, what is the note section?  mkofboot fails with an error about 
cannot include note section.

any pointers would be greatly appreciated.
